Alana Solomon, native of Reidsville, North Carolina, is a resident of Wilmington, North Carolina, USA and is inspired by all things art. She fully believes that in art, there is exactly and only one rule: “There are no rules!” Her favorite motto is: “The best artists are children!” and “True artists never grow up!” From crayons, to finger paints, to walls, to easels, Alana has immersed herself in paint, painting, drawing, murals, faux painting, painted furniture, portraiture, fashion, children’s books, photography, and many other forms of artistic expression.

She will encourage anyone to explore the creative world of art by nature-discovery, self-discovery and ultimately discovering the original Artist, The Creator Himself. Alana is passionate about using the gifts on loan to her, to inspire others to do the same.

Alana is on a rampage making funky-fun, one-of-a-kind artwork that is as fun to touch as it is to look at. Alana loves to layer textures and colors, patterns and splatters, pulling imagery out of the worshak-like terrains. Alana says it takes her back to her childhood when art was fun, with no rules, like cloud watching. She allows serendipity to take the superior role guiding her in the creative process and always encouraging her to let go of control and flow with the fun and frivolity of happy accidents. It’s a kind of “hands-on/ hands-off” balancing act. The results are always surprising and extremely gratifying. “What is really fun,” she says, “is to incorporate some abstract, some non-objective and some small doses of realism in one piece of artwork. Your eyes travel through the painting stirring the imagination and logical processes. This allows the viewer to linger longer.

The mind has more back and forth dialogue and stimulus than it would with an average straightforward painting that is mentally and emotionally processed instantaneously at a glance. These are the visual and mental creative adventures that travel outside the realm of photography and digital sterility. Nothing transports a grown-up back to their youth like getting in the paint with both hands! Paint-covered hands, twigs, feathers and any non-traditional tool can revert the most uptight adult artist back to their childhood where their love for art first began.”
